Last year, at the peak of my rowing fitness (I’d just finished a rowing marathon) I was diagnosed with cancer. After seven months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy I was given the all clear. During my treatment I was too ill to row but since the ‘all clear’ I have been gradually getting back into it and I’m using the rower as part of my recuperation. I’m no where near the fitness I had before the illness but presently doing 35-40k per week and getting stronger and feeling better by the day, all thanks to my trusty Model D.
